These records contain military warrant 3753 for 3,000 acres, issued to George Washington on February 14, 1785. Issued originally to John Roots for his French and Indian War military service, the warrant was assigned to Washington and then reissued in his name by a resolution of the General Assembly passed December 30, 1784. The warrant was not endorsed by Washington. A copy of the U.S. government publication, "Hearing Before a Subcommittee of the Committee on the Public Lands, House of Representatives, on Bills Relating to the Estate of General George Washington, March 25 and May 23, 1912," is included with this entry. Warrant 3753 was a significant document in the hearing.
